Pony Tales

Below are some the stories of some very special and
much loved "Lluestians".

GWILYM 11hh Chestnut Gelding, Born 1991

Who can resist Gwilym - snatched from the jaws of death and nursed back to health against all the odds. He was taken to a sale as a foal with mis-shapen legs, unable to stand. He had no mane or forelock due to severe malnutrition. He had rainscald, worms, a respiratory infection and was passing blood. Believe it or not Ginny still had to pay for him!! How to nurse a very sick foal during the cold winter months - obvious ! Take him into the farmhouse by the radiator for three months and feed him every two hours! His coat, mane and tail still bear witness to his dreadful start, but he is very friendly and inquisitive. Everyone's favourite cheeky chappy!

Keeping him warm in the farmhouse.
Gwilym today. Ginny would be so happy.

HOLLY

Holly was emaciated, with poor teeth and rainscald. She was trying to feed a foal (Nest). Holly was too weak to stand and needed a winch to get her up to allow her to feed for the first three weeks at Lluest. She had ten happy years at the Trust and was in her late thirties when she died.

Holly fit and well.

APACHE

Apache was severely emaciated, and had eaten ragwort because he had no other food. Ragwort destroys the liver, although it may not show straight away. He was over twenty when he came to us, and was only with us for two years, but look at how good those two years were for him!

Before we gave him a new home.
Fit & healthy at the Trust.

LADY

Lady was found abandoned on a mountain, seriously emaciated, with rain scald. She was a great favourite with everyone, and spent eleven years at the Trust, helping Linda to mother several young foals and yearlings, before a stroke claimed her.

Lady in a very poor condition.
Looking just like her name!

ELLIE

Ellie was found wandering Swansea housing estates. Mel and Eleanor spent many hours at the Trust tempting her to eat, and she began to recover before breaking our hearts when she died aborting a five month old foal she was too weak to carry.

This should never happen to these gentle and beautiful animals. RIP Ellie. Please please help the next "Ellie" to end their days surrounded by love.

Anyone with a heart would never allow this to happen to such gentle
and loving animals - Please, please will you help the Trust so we can
help the many that are brought to us for tender loving care.
